CONIA, the Confederation of Independent Athletics, is the global athletics association for all under- or unrepresented athletics associations outside the IAAF. The CONIA Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded and registered in The Netherlands.
CONIA’s main activities include:
- organising the quadrennial CONIA World Unity Athletics Games, in which athletes from member nations, territories and peoples compete in the usual international athletics disciplines;
- organising CONIA Continental Unity Athletics Games (in collaboration with continental confederations) every two years;
- supporting new or existing athletic associations, as well as individual athletes, representing underrepresented and marginalised communities, peoples and territories;
- assisting nations, communities and peoples in setting up and developing athletics associations, if they don’t have any yet.
CONIA’s mission is to facilitate non-nation state communities’ participating and excelling in competitive sports.
CONIA’s vision is a world in which athletes representing non-nation states and their communities can thrive and optimise their sporting careers free of bias, racism and discrimination.
